Lake Como sits at the foot of the Alps, close to the Swiss border. Alfred Hitchcock selected the misty surroundings here to film several of his movies. Ocean’s Twelve, in which George Cooney and Brad Pitt starred, was also filmed here. Village of Bellagio inspired Franz Liszt to compose his famous “After a Reading of Dante” sonata. Hotel Bellagio at Las Vegas got its name from this lake and town. Even the idea of the fountains and the water dance must have come from the fountain here at the entrance to the lake. The town of Como is only 45 minutes train ride to Milan. Beautiful towns and lake! Make sure to visit if you come as far as Milan. |
