Do not let today’s standard of living mislead you about Charleston. This was a very unfortunate town in the past. Another name given is “The Holy City”. At times the Carribean pirates took over the city. Tortured an killed people. Then it was the British. Then it was the civil war. 600 thousand total dies and a lot of them were from Charleston area. Slaves brought in from Africa nad sold at the slave market here… Earthquake in 1886, and a share of hurricane in 1989. It is believed here that the souls of those who suffered these pains and agonies still float over the town. I did not “see” these ghosts, but I sort of felt their presence. No death, just change of zones.. If you believe in that kind of stuff, Charleston is the perfect place for you. |
